School of Occupational Therapy, Faculty of Health Limited Term Position
Applications are invited for one Limited Term Position (0.5 FTE) at the Instructor level in the School of Occupational Therapy, Faculty of Health for a two year term starting May 1st, 2019 (pending budgetary approval). This is an academic position that encompasses teaching and administration. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position reports to the Dean of the Faculty of Health, through the Director, School of Occupational Therapy.
This instructor must hold an entry-to-practice qualification in occupational therapy. A Master’s degree is essential. A PhD or equivalent is an asset. Candidates are required to hold or be eligible for an Occupational Therapy license with the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia. A minimum of two years of relevant experience in clinical skills based training/tutoring and/or fieldwork supervision of occupational therapy students is required. It is preferred that the applicant have 3 years clinical expertise and knowledge in occupational therapy practice.
It is essential to have the ability to support teaching in fieldwork and in the entry-to-practice curriculum of occupational therapy practice including knowledge, skills, and professional behaviors of enabling occupation across the life span. It is essential that the applicant have ability to develop and teach courses, coordinate labs, tutor, and conduct student evaluations.
It is preferred that applicants have clinical expertise in clinical competencies of occupational therapy practice, ability to teach using online, face to face, and simulation methods, and ability to support interprofessional education.
It is highly desirable that applicants have: exceptional time management, organizational and prioritization skills, effective oral and written communication skills, leadership skills, passion and commitment to teaching and student learning, and the ability to take initiative, be flexible and work independently.
