The School of Rehabilitation Therapy, Faculty of Health Sciences at Queen’s University invites applications for two Tenure-track faculty positions, both at the rank of Assistant Professor and with a preferred starting date of January 1, 2020.  Candidates must have a background in occupational therapy that can contribute to building the School’s educational and research excellence in community rehabilitation and/or collaborative care.  

Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent degree completed by the start date of the appointment. The main criteria for selection are academic and teaching excellence. The successful candidates must provide evidence of strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions in a graduate level entry-to-practice occupational therapy curriculum, high quality scholarly output that demonstrates potential for independent research leading to peer assessed publications and external research funding, and an ongoing commitment to academic and pedagogical excellence in support of the Occupational Therapy Program. Completion of a successful post-doctoral research period is an asset. Demonstrated engagement with the Occupational Therapy profession is required as demonstrated through current registration as an occupational therapist, several years of clinical experience, and/or current membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists or a parallel occupational therapy professional organization. Candidates with direct knowledge of occupational therapy practice in Canada and expertise working with clients who experience occupational limitations due to personal (particularly physical or cognitive-neurological) or environmental factors will be considered an asset. Persons with experience in non-traditional settings are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities of the position include teaching in the entry level occupational therapy program and the research graduate programs (Rehabilitation Science, Aging and Health, and/or Rehabilitation and Health Leadership), and contributing to the scholarship and community outreach activities of the School. The successful candidate will be expected to supervise and mentor graduate students. Preference will be given to candidates whose research fits with the strategic mission of the School, particularly with respect to building our capacity for community rehabilitation and/or collaborative care, and building academic excellence in our curricula. Candidates must provide evidence of their ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary and student-centred environment. The successful candidate will be required to make substantive contributions through service to the School, the Faculty, the University, and/or the broader community. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
